Our expert-led Fertigation Training is designed specifically for agronomists and professionals working with permanent plantings, tree crops, almonds, macadamias, citrus, and other industries under Fertigation. This training provides valuable insights into optimising fertigation practices to enhance crop productivity and sustainability. 

This program is an approved professional development activity by Fertilizer Australia and contributes 8 hours towards the renewal of Fertcare Accredited Advisor credentials.

  • Introduction   
  • What is fertigation: 
    • Setting the scene on how and where fertigation can be used.
  • Soil texture, structure and water movement: 
    • Understanding what affects water and nutrient movement
    • Factors to consider for soil sampling. 
  • Water management and the climate: 
    • Understanding crop requirements for water and how to calculate application volumes based on irrigation system. 
  • Water quality and fertigation: 
    • Impact of water quality on crop growth and nutrient availability. 
  • The fertigation system:  
    • Basic understanding of different systems. 
  • Fertigation Operations: 
    • Operation of tank A & B systems (mixing tanks) and direct injection from neat liquids tanks. 
  • Importance of nutrient application timing vs crop growth stage: 
    • Relating crop demand to nutrient supply. 
    • Timing of fertilisers in program. 
  • Product Portfolio & Compatibility  
    • Demonstration to highlight incompatibles. 
  • Fertigation Program development, review and discussion 

 

 Commitments required

  • Two half-day sessions will be held at a designated venue.
  • Participants are required to bring along either a laptop, iPad, or both if they wish.
  • Participants are provided with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea
  • Where required, accommodation, breakfast and evening meals are the responsibility of the participants.
